We are building a house
A few days ago we had a traditional Buddhist ceremony to bless the the land and build of our new house. It’s a common ritual in Thailand, where things like food, drinks and flowers are collected and a banana tree is being attached to the first construction pole placed within the earth, setting the foundation for the build.
Thip had prepared for days to make sure we had all the things needed.
Everyone was there: Michael, Thip, the kids and parts of the team. A monk, who used to be a friend of my dad, was there to give his blessings.
Once everything was set up Michael and I got to say a prayer right before it was time to raise the pole.
We threw in flowers, coins and shimmery things into the hole and it felt like I was planting a garden filled with abundance, beauty and love. The monk chanted and then we all gathered to close it off with concrete.
It was a really special moment and of course my dad (in the form of an eagle which is the way I see him since his death) was circulating in the sky right above us.
In life I know it’s easy to simply move from one thing to the next which is why I’m so glad that we got to mark the occasion.
I’m so ready for this project to start and for our island home to come to life.
